HISTORY AND PURPOSE

The Prayer Bands have been in existence since the 1940’s.  Deacon Moses Johnson was responsible for their institution. The Evening Prayer Ministry assembles each Wednesday at 7:00pm to pray, praise and worship God.  We seek a refilling of our spirit midweek and our faith is strengthened through testimony, prayer, song and the study of God’s word.  Except during the summertime, at least one scripture text from the lectionary is studied; there are seasonal services with relative emphasis. The word of God is proclaimed by preachers and teachers of the Gospel.

BIBLE STUDY

Bible study is a vital part of Wednesday evening prayer service.  Throughout the ages,God has raised up men and women, ordinary people, and used them to accomplish great works for His kingdom.  God wants to bring us into intimacy with Himself, explain to us who He is, and how we can be brought into a close, wonderful relationship with Him.  He also wants us to understand the blessings of a life of obedience to His Word and the consequences of disobeying Him. He wants us to know the truth about life and what is going to happen in the future.  The Bible tells us everything we need to know about life, which is why we need to study it. Our prayer is that through the study of His Word, God will let us see the purpose of our lives in His Kingdom.
